My work experience has been strongly linked to the academic world. Between 2007 and 2013 I worked at the Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Chile), specifically in multidisciplinary team of the Social Psychology Area. In this place I developed research and teaching. In the research area the focus of interest has been the phenomenon of solidarity and its transformations from the installation of a neo-liberal model of society in Chile. On the other hand, in the field of teaching I have developed three areas of interest: (i) social research methodologies, with emphasis on quantitative methods, (ii) basic courses in sociology and social psychology, (iii) theoretical discuscion about social movements and the constitution of the modern subject in the urban space.
During my Master studies I focused my interest in the field of urban studies, especifically I conducted a quantitative research in which I studied the relationship between socio-spatial factors (socioeconomic residential segregation and perception of violence and crime in the neighborhood) and the development of neighborhood social capital and collective efficiency in public housing projects of Chile.
PhD Research Project
Currently I am developing my doctoral studies at the University of Amsterdam, specifically in the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR). My doctoral research project is focused in two subjects: (i) relationship between neoliberal governance of the city and the emergence of urban conflict in the case of Latin America and specifically in Chile; (ii) continuities and discontinuities in the forms of protest and resistance related with these urban conflicts (urban social movements): politicization processes of collective action and its expressions in socio-political imaginaries, discourses and practices about urban space.
