Manager Institute of Physics

I am manager of the Institute of Physics (IoP) at the University of Amsterdam. The IoP is a merger of the Institute for Theoretical Physics Amsterdam (ITFA), the Institute for High Energy Physics (IHEF), and the Van der Waals-Zeeman Institute for experimental physics (WZI).
As institute manager I am responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Institute of Physics within the Faculty of Science and the University of Amsterdam. I support and advise the scientific director and the management team on topics such as research policy, HRM, finance. My tasks furthermore include the assistance in the preparation of and advice regarding funding proposals, the coordination of large scientific projects, as well as the preparation of periodic reviews and reports.

With a physics background (PhD VU biophysics, 2008) I also support the IoP staff with organizational matters, particularly those that have a scientific connection. This includes public relations, outreach, press releases, ICT, institute website, etc.
