Ph.D. project summary
I started my Ph.D. project in june 2009 in the group of
earth surface science. Here I will try to develop and apply a
biomarker method to identify and quantify the sources
contributing to soil organic matter.
From the presence of specific molecules that are
characteristic for certain plant parts or plant species, I will
try to calculate the mass input of these fractions to forest
soils.
This knowledge will help to evaluate the role of biodiversity
and forest management technics for carbon sequestration in
temperate forests.
