Profile

Aart Loubert teaches European Union law and European Constitutional law at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Law and is a PhD-fellow with the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance.  

In his doctoral dissertation, Aart Loubert studies the influence of territorial expansion on the constitutional development of the European Union.  Mr. Loubert writes his dissertation under the supervision of Professor Deirdre Curtin and Professor Tom Eijsbouts.

Aart Loubert graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 2003 with a degree in law and from New York University School of Law in 2005 with an LL.M. in International Legal Studies.   He is a member of the Bar in New York and, before entering academia, was an associate with international law firms Bingham McCutchen LLP in Boston, Massachusetts (USA), and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Brussels, Belgium.   Between graduating from the University of Amsterdam and enrolling at New York University School of Law, Mr. Loubert interned with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
