Maarten Hillebrandt is a Ph.D. researcher at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance (ACELG) since June 2012. His research focusses on the development of transparency rules and practices in the EU Council of Ministers, and uses a multidisciplinary framework that combines legal and public administration perspectives. The project is supervised by prof. Deirdre Curtin (ACELG) and dr. Albert Meijer (Utrecht School of Governance). Maarten obtained a BA in history and sociology from the University of Warwick and an MSc in public administration and organizational science at Utrecht University (both cum laude). Previously, Maarten has worked as a researcher for the Open Government in the EU project based at the Utrecht School of Governance, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the Scientific Council of Government Policy (WRR). Maarten is a volunteer at United World Colleges the Netherlands.
Maarten Hillebrandt is promovendus aan het Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance (ACELG) sinds juni 2012. Zijn onderzoek gaat over de ontwikkeling van transparantieregels en -praktijken in de Raad van Minister van de EU, waarbij hij gebruik maakt van een multidisciplinaire benadering die inzichten uit de rechtswetenschap en bestuurskunde combineert. Het project wordt begeleid door prof. Deirdre Curtin (ACELG) en dr. Albert Meijer (Utrechtse School voor Bestuurs- en Organisatiewetenschappen - USBO). Maarten behaalde een BA geschiedenis en sociologie aan de Universiteit van Warwick, en een MSc bestuurs- en organisatiewetenschappen aan de Universiteit Utrecht (beide cum laude). Maarten werkte eerder als onderzoeker voor het Open Government in the EU project aan de USBO, voor de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, en voor de Wetenschappelijke Raad voor Regeringsbeleid. Maarten is vrijwilliger voor United World Colleges Nederland.
