I am PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam/Duitsland Instituut Amsterdam. My dissertation focuses on patterns of realignment among Western European voters in cross-national and longitudinal perspective. In particular, I look at the influence of European integration on the structure of political competition in the Western European EU member states.

In 2011, I completed the Research Master Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (cum laude). I also hold a Master's degree in Latin America Studies at the University of Utrecht (2007, cum laude). 

Before and during my PhD I have been involved in several research projects:

• The individual level sources of electoral volatility (with Tom van der Meer, Rozemarijn Lubbe and Wouter van der Brug)
• Euroscepticism and inequality (with Armen Hakhverdian, Theresa Kuhn and Wouter van der Brug)
• Ethnic educational inequalities (with Herman van de Werfhorst and Anthony Heath)
• Transnational solidarity in the EU (with Theresa Kuhn and Hector Solaz)
• Radical voting in Europe (with Matthijs Rooduijn, Brian Burgoon and Herman van de Werfhorst)
