Tara Fiorito MSc. (1985) works as a lecturer and researcher at the Sociology and Anthropology Department of the University of Amsterdam. She finished her Research Master Social Sciences (Cum Laude) in 2012 and holds a Bachelor Degree in Sociology (Cum Laude).

Her thesis Shaping Subjectivities. Discourse, Discipline and Emotions within the Undocumented Student Movement in Los Angeles regards how a social movement of undocumented students in Los Angeles (USA) uses disciplinary strategies and feeling-exercises to ensure frame alignment and emotional convergence, thus creating a common subjectivity for subjects from diverse backgrounds.

She is also co-director of the documentary film Undocumented & Unafraid in Los Angeles, a film concerning the lives and struggles of undocumented students within the context of neoliberal Los Angeles. This film was funded by the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies.  

In 2015, Tara Fiorito received a research scholarship from the Political Sociology group of the Sociology Department at the University of Amsterdam.

Undocumented and Unafraid in Los Angeles is an ethnographic documentary film (directed by Dirk Eisema, MSc. and Tara Fiorito, MSc.) about a social movement of undocumented migrant youths living and studying in Los Angeles (USA). The film was shot during six months of ethnographic fieldwork in Los Angeles and was produced in the Netherlands through the financial help of a scholarship funded by the Institute of Migration and Ethnic Studies (University of Amsterdam).
