Current work
I work as a PhD Student with Professor Pim de Voogt on the European PERFOOD Project (PERFluorinated Organics in Our Diet). The projects aims are to assess the exposure pathways for humans to perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS). In this project I am investigating if vegetables are capable of taking up PFAS through their roots and if so, in what ratios andwhere they accumulate the PFAS (roots, stem,leaves, fruits). For this I'm growing several vegetable species in contaminated hydroponic solutions and later in a field experiment on contaminated soil.
