René Lefeber elected as chair ad interim at the first meeting of the Compliance Committee of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.
The Procedures and Operational Mechanisms to Promote Compliance and Address Issues of Non-Compliance were adopted at the Fourth Session of the Governing Body of the Treaty on 18 March 2011 and the members of the Compliance Committee were provisionally appointed by the Bureau of the Governing Body further to nominations by regional groups of the Food and Agricultural Organization. The Compliance Committee is to report to the Fifth Session of the Governing Body from 24 to 28 September 2013 on its work.
