Centre for the Study of European Contract Law annual report 2013
The CSECL's annual report 2013 can be downloaded via the link below. The main highlights in 2013 are:
Lyn Tjon Soei Len defended her doctoral thesis on The effects of contracts beyond frontiers: A capabilities perspective on externalities and contract law in Europe, while Aukje van Hoek’s inaugural lecture ‘Managing legal diversity’: over de rol van het internationaal privaatrecht in de moderne samenleving was published as monograph. Moreover, several researchers published articles in the leading international journals and in peer-reviewed edited volumes.
In the field of policy oriented research, Chantal Mak (from CSECL) and Natali Helberger (from IVIR) published a short study for DG Connect of the European Commission: Towards identifying safe and fair contract terms and conditions for consumers and small firms using cloud computing services. Moreover, some researchers were in the media with newspaper articles.
As to changes in our staff, we were delighted to welcome Prof. Anna Veneziano as a new Professor in European Property Law. Also a new PhD candidate joined our Centre: Olga Falgueras, whose research focuses on the European insolvency game of reorganization of distressed companies.
Finally, as of 1 September 2013 Lyn Tjon Soei Len has been our new Deputy Director, replacing Chantal Mak who became the director of ARILS.
