Nik de Boer wins Max van der Stoel Human Rights Award 2012
ACELG Ph.D. researcher wins prize for his Master thesis
On 10 December 2012, Human Rights Day, the Max van der Stoel Prize for best Master thesis was awarded to ACELG Ph.D. researcher Nik de Boer for his thesis entitled 'Constitutional Fundamental Rights and the issue of divergent rights and standards in the EU’. This is yet another recognition of the high quality of Nik's thesis for which he earlier received the prize of Best 2012 Master Thesis by Utrecht University.
The Max van der Stoel prize was instituted in 1996 by Tilburg University to honour the best dissertation and Master thesis on human rights written at a Belgian or Dutch university. It is named after Max van der Stoel, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, ambassador to the UN and High Commissioner on National Minorities at the OSCE.
