Katja Swider appointed Advisory Committee member of the European Network on Statelessness

ACELG PhD candidate participates in UNHCR Round Table on Statelessness in Yerevan, Armenia

16 september 2014

Recently ACELG doctoral researcher Katja Swider was appointed an Advisory Committee member of the European Network on Statelessness (ENS), a civil society alliance addressing statelessness in Europe. On the 24th of September she will represent the ENS at UNHCR Round Table on Statelessness Determination Procedures in Yerevan, Armenia.

Membership in the ENS facilitates Katja’s access to research data, forges connections with scholars and practitioners operating in her area of expertise, and enables dissemination of her research findings beyond the academic audience. In her new role as an Advisory Committee member Katja will, among others, provide policy advice on statelessness to national governments, teach workshops on statelessness, and represent the organization at various events and conferences. Katja’s first ENS missions will be to Yerevan, where she will advise Armenian authorities on the best practices regarding statelessness determination in Europe, and on the interplay between statelessness and asylum related procedures.
