Interests
I primarily work in moral philosophy, but I'm also interested in political philosophy and philosophy of law. I enjoy teaching classical texts.
Research
My PhD-project is on the Kantian concept of autonomy and the problem of moral evil. Ever since Reinhold's Letters on the Kantian Philosophy the objection has been raised that Kant's normative conception of autonomy entails that nobody is morally responsible for actions that are morally wrong. Making use of some of the insights developed by P.F. Strawson in his seminal article Freedom and Resentment, I show this objection to be false. My broader aim is to develop a Kantian theory of moral responsibility for morally wrong actions.
