Joep Leersen awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bucharest
The honorary doctorate will be presented on 23 October 2014 to Joep Leersen, Professor of European Studies, for his work in the area of imagology (the study of national (self)images and stereotypes) and nationalism studies.
Following the ceremony there will be a three day imagological conference, organized by the Centre of Excellence for the Study of Cultural Identity. The title of Joep Leersen's keynote lecture is "Nationalism is the political activation of an auto-image."
