Is Molecular Simulation and Photonics at the UvA the study for me?
It is, if you:
- have a solid background in physical chemistry and aspects of statistical and quantum mechanics
- prefer a theoretical, computational and/or physical-chemical approach
- are interested in using the molecule as point of departure for gaining fundamental insights about materials and chemical, biological and physical processes
- enjoy a multi-scale context, from molecular to macroscopic
- want the advantages of a small-scale programme, where students and staff all know each other.
What does Molecular Simulation and Photonics at the UvA have to offer me?
This track focuses on computational and photonic research of structure, dynamics and function in atomic, (bio)molecular and multi-scale systems. With state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques as well as theoretical analyses, it covers international research topics such as:
- Molecular photoscience
- Computational physics and chemistry
- Theoretical chemistry
- Biophysics
- Biomedical physics
- Quantum atom optics
The programme is embedded in various leading national and international research institutes, such as the Amsterdam Center for Multiscale Modeling (ACMM, part of CECAM) and the LaserLab Amsterdam (part of LaserLab Europe). These collaborations provide you with direct access to a broad pool of experts in relevant fields of study.
