Game Studies students participate in project to decrease social isolation among seniors
Students of the interdisciplinary Game Studies Master's programme of the University of Amsterdam demonstrate their prototypes of applied games for reducing social isolation among the elderly. They demonstrate these games for the elderly residents of care centre Cordaan De Boeg on Wednesday 28 January.
Over the course of one month, and in collaboration with the Amsterdam care institute Cordaan, the students have been investigating how the social isolation of the elderly can be reduced through playful interaction, applied psychology and game technology.
The students demonstrate the game prototypes that they have designed at a demonstration market in the residential care centre Cordaan De Boeg. The demonstration market takes place on Wednesday, 28 January 2014 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Cordaan De Boeg (Hoofdweg 495, 1055 SC Amsterdam, tel: 020 - 686 0590).
Game Studies focuses on the advanced analysis of applied games at an academic level, and aims to translate the needs of stakeholders and theory into innovative game concepts. It is an interdisciplinary field of study at the cutting edge of psychology, information science, (new) media and intelligent computing systems.
