UvA Informatics Master's programmes rate high in NVAO assessment

12 November 2014

In the accreditation decisions just announced by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), all Master's programmes at the Graduate School of Informatics have received positive or very positive assessments. The assessment procedure was conducted last year.

The NVAO issues final conclusions ranging from 'Unsatisfactory' to 'Satisfactory', 'Good' and, in rare cases, 'Excellent'. The Master's in Logic has now managed to achieve just such an excellent rating, with the assessment panel calling it 'one of the best, if not "the" best degree programme in Logic in the world'.

It further assessed the Master's in Software Engineering and System and Network Engineering as ‘Good’, with the latter scoring ‘Excellent’ in the category of ‘learning environment’.

All other Master's programmes at the Graduate School of Informatics received a rating of 'Satisfactory', with scores of 'Good' on various individual NVAO assessment standards. These results place the University of Amsterdam in an exceptionally strong position relative to other Informatics Master's programmes nationwide.
