Prof. dr. Bart Noordam
Mr. Prof. L. D. (Bart) Noordam, distinguished research professor at the Faculty of Science since November 1, 2012
Bart Noordam (1964) was Dean of the Faculty of Science from May 2009 to
October 2012. At the same time, he was Professor of Experimental Physics at the
University of Amsterdam. After his deanship, he was vice president of research
of the high-tech company ASML, one of the leading suppliers of machines for the
semiconductor industry and also his employer in 2008 and 2009, when Noordam held
the position of Director Development & Engineering at ASML.
In his earlier carrier he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey &
Company, as Director of the FOM Institute AMOLF (2002 - 2005), was appointed
special professor of Atomic and Molecular Physics at the University of Amsterdam
and at the VU University, and was director of the Randstad Court of the
provinces of North and South Holland and Flevoland (2005-2008). Bart Noordam has
authored more than 130 scientific articles, 23 of which appeared in the
prestigious journal Physical Review Letters.
