Prof. dr. C.J.M. (Kareljan) Schoutens (1962) is professor Theoretical Physics at the Institute of Physics (IoP) at the UvA. In January 2014 he is appointed distinguished research professor, directly after his deanship at the FNWI (October 2012 to January 2014). During his deanery, he also was professor at the Institue of Phycis (IoP) from February 1999 till January 2014.
In 2008 prof. dr. Schoutens became director of ITFA (department of IoP). After that he was announced as director of IoP from 2011 to 2013. Prof. Kareljan Schoutens has authored more than 75 scientific articles of which most part was published in peer-reviewed journals. His excellence was acknowledged in 2000 by receiving an NWO pioneer grant. In addition, he received many FOM and international grants.
