Artificial Intelligence is widely adopted in our society: control mechanisms in airplanes, smart cameras and surveillance systems or robotics in industry. All these applications are based on AI methods to interpret information of different modalities and use it to enable intelligent and goal-directed behaviour.
Artificial Intelligence in Amsterdam
The Master's programme in Amsterdam has a technical approach towards AI research. It is a joint programme (from September 2015 onwards) of both the University of Amsterdam and VU University Amsterdam. This collaboration guarantees a wide range of topics, all taught by researchers who are experts in their field.
Core topics
To provide all students with a full understanding of the spectrum, the programme starts with the following courses on core topics in Artificial Intelligence:
- Multi-Agent Systems
- Computational Intelligence
- Computer Vision
- Information Retrieval
- Knowledge Representation
- Machine Learning
- Natural Language Processing
After the core topics you can continue with advanced courses in the same areas. It is also possible to take courses in other AI topics, or to explore combinations. The Data Science specialisation for example combines advanced Machine Learning with Visualization and High Performance Computing. Another option is Artificial Intelligence and the Web, with a combination of Information Retrieval, Knowledge Representation and web-based technology.
