About the MacGillavry Fellowship

Successful candidates will be appointed for a maximum of six years as an assistant professor. During this track candidates are stimulated to set up their own independent research programme hosted by one of the Faculty’s research institutes.

The MacGillavry Fellows are expected to publish in high-profile journals, attract their own external funding and contribute to the teaching programmes within the faculty. Key performance indicators in both research and education will be monitored and will serve as input for an evaluation process, which will lead to a decision as regards tenure.
Should the fellow prove successful, she will be offered a permanent staff position as an associate professor and a subsequent personal career path towards a full professorship will be mutually agreed upon.

The Faculty of Science is also happy to consider applications from women with a more senior profile than that described here, and thus reduction in the length of the tenure track and/or entry at associate professor level are possibilities that can be considered as appropriate.
