Improving methods for cyclic peptide synthesis
Chemistry
Stanimir Popović’s research is aimed at improving the current methods for peptide synthesis, which plays a significant role in the development of medicines. One problem that affects the synthesis of small cyclic peptides is epimerization, which decreases the power of peptide synthesis and limits general access to peptide derivatives. One objective of Popović’s research is to address this problem by developing epimerization-free methods for C-terminal peptide activation to enable C-terminal peptide elongation and ultimately peptide cyclization.
