The 10th Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award: take part!

€ 10,000 for most innovative and useful idea with commercial or societal impact

It is now possible to register your idea for the 10th Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award. Make your idea live!

Researchers, staff and students in all disciplines from all Amsterdam universities, universities of applied sciences, academic hospitals and public research centers, are invited to register their idea.

Each entry will be assessed by a highly qualified jury comprising members who are all recognized professionals in their own fields. The jury members are:

  • Prof. Dr. Alexander Rinnooy Kan - University Professor UvA (Chairman of the jury)
  • Onno Benninga - Industry leader at Google
  • Rob Doeve MSc - Director Taalcentrum-VU
  • Marloes Krijnen MSc - Director Foam (Photography Museum Amsterdam
  • Dr. Giulia de Luca - UvA Researcher and winner of the AmSIA 2014
  • Prof. Yigal Pinto - AMC researcher at dept. of Cardiology
  • Dr. Marja Zonnevylle - General Manager Gas Processing at Shell

Entries will be judged on their innovativeness, feasibility and fulfilment of a market need.

The Grand Finale will take place on 27 May at the Amsterdam University College. Ten finalists will present their ideas in an elevator pitch, after which the jury will decide who is the winner of the 2015 award. The finalists will receive a professional pitch training and support from business developers of IXA (f.k.a. Bureau Kennistransfer). The business developers will gladly help participants to develop their idea into a clear proposition.

In 2014 Giulia de Luca's Re-scan Confocal Microscopy (RCM) method won the 9th edition of the Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award.

Organization

The Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award is an annual award for the most innovative research-based idea with a social and/or commercial application. Last year, nearly 70 idea’s from UvA-HvA, AMC, VU-VUmc and Sanquin competed for the award.
The competition is organised by Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA): the valorisation centre of UvA-HvA, AMC and VU-VUmc.
