Capturing economic realities in mathematical models
Econometrics tells the story of the economy. Your analyses will predict how economic policy is conducted. Using Operational Research, you will optimise logistical and operational business processes.
How many people leave their car at home more often when fuel excise duty increases? What is the effect of interest rate changes by the central bank on growth and inflation? These are some of the issues that econometrists deal with. An operational researcher looks for mathematical solutions for queues in call centres and supermarkets, for example.
Both econometrists and operational research specialists capture economic realities in mathematical models. If you would like to learn to make these analyses and translate them into economic policy, then the Bachelor’s in Econometrics and Operations Research (OR) is the right programme for you.
Econometrics & OR is a three-year full-time Bachelor’s programme at the UvA. Studying at the UvA is an unforgettable experience which will benefit you for the rest of your personal and professional life.
