Department of Communication Science

The Communication Science Department focuses on the links between media and social processes, investigating relationships at the micro-level (individuals), meso-level (institutions) and macro-level (society as a whole). More specifically, CW is concerned with the study of production, content, use, meaning and effects of media-structured communication processes at the micro, meso and macro levels.

The Department has four programme groups, each centred around a specialised area of study:

- Youth & Media Entertainment (prof. dr. Hans Beentjes),
- Persuasive Communication (dr. Julia van Weert),
- Corporate Communication (prof. dr. Rens Vliegenthart),
- Political Communication & Journalism (prof. dr. Claes de Vreese)
