In 2012 I received ASCA's fellowship for a PhD position in Cultural Analysis in UvA. As a PhD candidate I have been a member of ASCA's Cities Project.
In my research, I undertake an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding of built and imagined dimensions of city life. In that respect, my project investigates the intersections of Architecture, Urbanism, Cinema, Visual culture, Social theory and Human Security, within the scope of contemporary Cities.
My research project is entitled: 'Non-Visibility and the Politics of Presence: A spatial analysis of contemporary Iran'. This project investigates the inter-relations of concepts of non-visibility, security, public and private, sphere of presence, mobility, everyday life and resistance in the context of urban experience in Iran – its lived environment and cinematic representations. Furthermore, it introduces and analyses specific 'spatialities', among which are: Cars within the city, Shopping centers, Sports, and rooftops.
