Curriculum Vitae

Monique Timmers studeerde in 1994 cum laude af bij de vakgroep experimentele en theoretische psychologie van de Rijksuniversiteit Leiden. In 2000 promoveerde zij op het proefschrift Sex differences in Emotion Expression aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, afdeling Psychologie.

Sinds 2000 werkt zij bij de afdeling Communicatiewetenschap. Haar huidige onderzoek gaat over de emotionele oorsprong en aantrekkingskracht van media-entertainment. Zij richt zich onder andere op de invloed van narratief, identificatie, empathie en parasociale interactieprocessen op kijkeremoties en enjoyment .

Zij verzorgt het masterseminar  Enjoying Entertainment. Monique Timmers is tevens scriptiecoordinator, stagecoordinator en honourstudent tutor. Ze is vice voorzitter van de Opleidingscommissie.
