Mr Becker has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the University of Amsterdam since 26 August 2016. He was appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science until 26 August 2020. Becker is chair of the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board.
Rob Becker (1965) studied Physics at the UvA and Economic Sciences at Columbia University (New York), and was awarded an MBA at INSEAD (Fontainebleau).
From 1990 until 2005 he worked at McKinsey in the United Kingdom, China, Singapore and the Netherlands, fulfilling various positions including that of business analyst and engagement manager, and serving as partner from 1999 onwards. He then moved to Achmea to become CFO of the Pensions division; his most recent position was Director of the Direct Distribution division and member of the Achmea Group Committee.
Becker is active as supervisory officer of various institutions, including the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets and the Red Cross hospital in Beverwijk. He is chair of the board of the Aflatoun Foundation, an NGO.
