Sustainable operational management
The UvA seeks to create conditions that will foster sustainable behaviour amongst its students and staff. In doing so, it also hopes to contribute to the realisation of key objectives such as the reduction of CO2. A plan has therefore been drawn up with concrete aims for areas such as construction, building management, energy management, transportation, purchasing and consumption. The Sustainability Taskforce is responsible for implementing this plan.
Working in cooperation with local government and businesses, the UvA is carrying out an original and ambitious series of sustainability projects, including the development of Science Park Amsterdam, which is jointly being undertaken with the City of Amsterdam and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.
The UvA is further seeking greater sustainability by developing an awareness-raising programme for staff and students. At present, the greatest efforts in this regard are being made in the following areas:
