Being awarded with the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship in 2010 and 2011, I completed a research master in Educational Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (2012). Prior to it I have obtained a master in Pedagogy at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia (2009), and a Bachelor in Pedagogy at the same university (2007).
From May, 2013 to February 2014 I worked as a research assistant on the project: “Time perspective and self-regulation in learning and work careers” at the Research Institute of Child Development and Education at the University of Amsterdam.
In February, 2014 I started my PhD project: ''Setting and pursuing goals: Future time perspective across life domains and cultures'' under the supervision of professors Dr. Thea Peetsma from the Research Institute of Child Development and Education and Dr. Annelies van Vianen from the Psychology Research Institute. The aim of this interdisciplinary project is to meta-analytically explore the motivational construct Future Time Perspective (FTP) across learning, work, and health domain, and integrate it with the Regulatory focus theory to test the model of adolescent study/career decision-making. In addition, we will investigate how is the motivational construct of FTP conceptualized and how it affects adolescents' study/career decision-making in countries where the future is more uncertain because of the economic turbulence and recent wars (i.e., Serbia and Croatia). Thus, we will conduct a cross-cultural qualitative and quantitative research in Serbia, Croatia, and The Netherlands. Based on the findings we will deliver fundamental knowledge on (universal or culturally-bounded) motivational processes and advance the research in education and organizational and health psychology. Also, we will inspire the development of interventions that support adolescents to set and pursue their study/career and health related goals.
