Introductie
Dr. Lotte van Poppel is als docent/ondezoeker verbonden aan de leerstoelgroep Taalbeheersing, Argumentatietheorie en Retorica. In deze functie houdt zij zich deels bezig met onderzoek en deels met het geven van onderwijs. Van Poppel studeerde Talen en Culturen van Latijns Amerika aan de Universiteit Leiden, waarvoor ze een half jaar in het zuid-Spaanse Sevilla verbleef. Hierna voltooide ze ook de onderzoeksmaster Rhetoric, Argumentation Theory and Philosophy of Language aan de UvA.
Onderzoek
Van Poppel promoveerde in 2013 op het proefschrift Getting the vaccine now will protect you in the future! waarin ze zich richtte op het strategische gebruik van pragmatische argumentatie in gezondheidsvoorlichting.
Onderwijs
Sinds 2006 is Van Poppel als docent werkzaam bij de UvA. Momenteel verzorgt zij binnen de bachelors Nederlandse Taal en Cultuur en Taal en Communicatie de vakken Argumentatieanalyse en Taalhandelingstheorie, Verbale Communicatie en Strategisch Manoeuvreren.
