About me

After I finished my MA in Language and Culture Studies, with a specialisation in Intercultural Communication in 1999 I joined the Up with People programme for a year. I  travelled around the globe with 142 students from 26 different countries. I had the opportunity to experience intercultural awarenes by staying in host families and special allocations, be active in several community service projects and school projects, performing the broadway-style musical  A common Beat. 

After my year abroad I started working for the University of Amsterdam in 2001. The first two years I worked as a registrar for Political Science and as co-ordinator contract education for Political Science, Social Science, Communication Science and Cultural Anthropology.

Since 2003 I have been working for the Graduate School of Humanities as an admissions officer for international students. I handle the MA applications from students with a non-Dutch BA degree, evaluate their credentials,  prepare the files for the selection and exam committees, check the entry requirements and inform the students about the outcome of the application procedure.

Admitted international students I inform about the accommodation procedure, registration at UvA, scholarships and, until 2011 I handled their visa applications.

In 2012 I finished my education as a professional coach and followed additional workshops and training in the field of outdoor life coaching. I currently am a member of UvA's professional network of coaches, to coach other employees. I mostly focus on employees who have just finished their studies/PhD and have started working.
