Identifying and evaluating patterns of prescription opioid use and associated risks in Ontario, Canada
Opioid prescribing and related adverse events have been describes as a public health emergency in Canada as the rate of opioid use continues to rise, and fatal overdoses claim the lives of thousands of Canadians each year. Tara Gomes examines the patterns of opioid use in the state of Ontario, and highlights the clinically meaningful risks of opioid-related adverse events. She also evaluates the impact and potential unintended consequences of policy changes that have been implemented in Canada.
