Measuring molecular orientational dynamics
Michael Donovan presents measurements of molecular orientational dynamics in various systems. These range from the dangling OH of water when it comes into contact with a buried silica interface to the orientational side chain dynamics of hydrophonic leucine residues that point into the air. He presents an experimental and computational methodology for the investigation of interfacial chemistry that involves vibrationally labeling molecules via an infrared pump pulse.
