Communication Science

23Jan2018 12:00 - 13:00

PhD defence ceremony

Since the global financial crisis of 2007-2009 and the emergence of new technologies that increase the amount of information available, the way news media drive stock prices has gained greater relevance for the financial markets. Nadine Strauß investigated the relationship between news media and stock markets from a communication science perspective. She took a close look at the role of financial journalists, the role of emotions in news media coverage, and at specific market events and the stock market.
