Dowry and material culture in Venetian Crete
In seventeenth-century Venetian Crete, marriage and dowry had profound socioeconomic and cultural dimensions. Tatiana Markaki focuses on the way people positioned themselves at their marraiage by means of dowry goods. She studies archival objects such as marriage contracts, including inventories of movables and groom's receipts.
