The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is one of the two schools of the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Economics and Business. ABS has almost 3,000 students and the equivalent of 120 full-time academic staff. The school’s core subjects are Corporate Governance, Entrepreneurship, and Big Data / Business Analytics.

Six sections (Accounting, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Finance, Leadership & Management, International Strategy & Marketing, and Operations Management) conduct research that is published in prestigious international journals. They also provide various degree programmes including a BSc programme and six MSc programmes, a wide range of post-doctoral programmes featuring three MBAs, five vocational programmes and Lean Six Sigma programmes, and an extensive portfolio of open courses and in-company projects.

To stimulate Big Data & Business Analytics, the school actively participates in Amsterdam Data Science, an all department initiative of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), the Free University of Amsterdam (VU), the University of Applied Sciences (HvA) and the Center of Computer Science & Mathematics (CWI). Within Amsterdam Data Science, a large number of research projects on Data Science take place, both with a theoretical focus and with an applied / industry focus.

The school further participates in a university-wide Minor in Data Science at Bachelor level, a Master track in Digital Business, a Big Data track within the Master Econometrics, a MBA in Big Data & Business Analytics and several post-graduate programmes on Big Data & Business Analytics, including programmes on industrial statistics and Lean Six Sigma.

The new professor will be appointed at the Department of Operation Management of the Amsterdam Business School.

Furthermore, the candidate should be able to run courses in executive education, like Lean Six Sigma Black Belt courses.

Finally, we expect that the new professor takes on substantial managerial tasks, such as the directorships of one or more post-graduate programmes or similar.
