Janice McNab is an artist and practice based PhD researcher within the Art History department and ASCA, the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. Her research focus is on how painting as material research can explore the resonances and frictions between a personal experience of ageing and historical representations of this within fine art, with a particular emphasis on the 'monstrously feminine,' the imagery of disallowed forms of ageing womanhood.

Janice McNab studied fine art at both Edinburgh College of Art and Glasgow School of Art (MFA 1997).  She currently teaches at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam; The Royal Academy, The Hague, and Piet Zwart Research Institute, Rotterdam. She has exhibited widely across Europe.
