Marije Osnabrugge (1984) is a PhD candidate in the Art History department of the Universiteit van Amsterdam. In November 2010, she started her PhD project 'Local versus foreign: Netherlandish painters in Naples 1570 - 1660' (provisional title). The painters that form the heart of her thesis are Aert Mytens, Louis Finson, Abraham Vinck, Matthias Stom and Hendrick de Somer. Her project is supervised by prof.dr. Eric Jan Sluijter and dr. Arjan de Koomen.

 

She obtained a BA in Art History (2006, cum laude) and a Research Master 'Art History of the Low Countries in its European Context' (2008, cum laude) at Utrecht University. During her studies, she was an intern at Centrum Vermeer in Delft and at the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp, where she researched the Dutch still life paintings in the collection. She also worked as an assistant in the Humanties library of Utrecht University and as a teaching assistant in the department. Her MA/MPhil thesis, 'Aert Mijtens: a painter from Brussels in Naples 1556-1601' was supervised by prof.dr. B.W. Meijer of the Dutch University Institute for Art History in Florence (NIKI).

 

Between February 2008 and October 2010, she worked as a junior lecturer in the Art History department and the BA programme 'Taal en Cultuurstudies' at Utrecht University and as the board secretary of the Dutch Postgraduate School for Art History (OSK).
