Globalisation and modernity in Ecuadorian public construction
Julia Espinosa Andrade explores the role of ideas on globalisation and modernity in the development of Ecuadorian public construction driven by the State and city authorities. She analyses the planning and construction process of four urban projects: the new Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito; the Millenium Communities in the Amazonian region; the Yachay university/technological hub located in the north of the country; and local monuments placed by municipal authorities on the northern coast.
