Close to a Brexit?
In cooperation with ACCESS EUROPE
With the upcoming general elections in the UK, the possibility of a Brexit (shorthand for British exit from the European Union) is widely debated again. Sir Colin Budd, former member of the UK Diplomatic Service, will talk about the current debate in the UK on the European Union membership and reflect on the significance in that context of the longstanding connections between the UK and the Netherlands.
Sir Colin Budd will describe the current debate in the UK about membership of the European Union, including the possibility of a Brexit, and the ways in which the UK would like the EU to change. Prof. Jonathan Zeitlin (Political Economy and Transnational Governance, UvA) will respond to Budd's lecture. The discussion between Sir Budd, Zeitlin, and the public will be moderated by Prof. Anton Hemerijck (VU).
