Public Mediation Programme (PMP) at the UvA-grand opening

19Nov2014 15:30 - 17:30

Event

PMP is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Political Science at the UvA under the ‘wings’ of Alexander Rinnooy Kan, University Professor. The programme seeks to develop the practice and profession of public mediation in the Netherlands, by providing training to enhance capacity as well as by deepening the understanding of public disputes.

PMP works together with a large and diverse network of practitioners, researchers, policymakers from all over the world. It combines research and practice on public mediation in an innovative way, both in order to enhance quality and expertise in training (future) public mediators; as well as keeping insights on the function of public disputes as up-to-date and thorough as possible.

PMP offers several opportunities in training and capacity building for those wanting to know more about the subject as well as advanced Masterclasses for public mediators.

Case research is at the core of the PMP research programme. Case studies help to get a better understanding of public conflicts and conflict resolution in the public domain and are used as the bases for training.
