At the same time that Thomas Piketty is visiting the Dutch Parliament, AMCIS organizes a mini-symposium to contextualize his book 'Capital in the 21st Century' to the Netherlands, and to discuss possible consequences of changing income and wealth inequalities in Europe.

  • Capital and income inequality in the Netherlands. Wiemer Salverda (AIAS and AMCIS) 
  • The Political Consequences of Rising Inequalities. Brian Burgoon (AMCIS and Department of Political Science, UvA) 
  • Rising Inequalities and Declining Social Cohesion in Europe. Herman van de Werfhorst (AMCIS and Department of Sociology, UvA) 
  • What can we learn from the inequality literature in egalitarian the Netherlands? (Discussion chaired by Armèn Hakhverdian, AMCIS and Dept. of Political Science, UvA)
