Hands off our girls - Social Sciences supports Serious Request

20Dec2014 11:00 - 15:00

Symposium

Sexual violence against women is the featuring topic of this symposium organised by the Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. It is a benefit symposium, which means that all visitors can make a voluntary donation to the 3FM Serious Request 2014.

3FM Serious Request is a fundraising initative of the Dutch national radio channel 3FM. This year's 3FM Serious Request asks for the attention of sexual violence against women - a silent disaster that strikes millions of women around the world. The Red Cross is dedicated to bring relief to these traumatised women and help them in their physical and emotional recovery but also in helping them build a new life. The DJs of the Glazen Huis (“the Glass House”) in Haarlem would like to break the silence through this national call for donations and raise as much money as possible for the Red Cross. To support this great cause, the Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam have developed a special in-depth programme to raise awareness on this issue and related topics.

How does it work?

Visit one activity (or as many as you like of course) and make your voluntary donation. Students will be standing outside the rooms and the CREA building, holding money-boxes whereto the donation can be made. At the end of the event the students of the Machiavelli study association will hand the total sum of money to the DJs at the Glazen Huis in Haarlem.

The only thing we kindly ask you to do prior to the event, is to apply through the button below.
