Eelco Harteveld is PhD candidate at the Departments of Political Science of the University of Amsterdam and the University of Gothenburg. He completed the Research Master Social Sciences (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam in 2011. His thesis ‘In Europe we Trust?’ was nominated for the 2012 Thesis Award of the Dutch-Flemish Political Science Association. He worked as an intern at the Netherlands Institute for Social Science Research (SCP) and teaches introductory and advanced courses in research methods and statistics at the University of Amsterdam. Eelco has published in European Union Politics and European Sociological Review.
Areas of interest
Eelco's research interests are comparative in nature and focus on political behaviour, right-wing radicalism, euroscepticism, social influences on voting, and gender. He has experience in a broad range of methods, and specialized in quantitative methodology.
Current research
His current research focuses on the strong overrepresentation of male voters among the radical right electorate. This research project, in collaboration with Stefan Dahlberg, Andrej Kokkonen and Wouter van der Brug, aims to contribute to our understanding of radical (right) voting and the role of gender in political behaviour.
