Public Mediation Programme
About
PMP is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Political Science at the UvA under the ‘wings’ of Alexander Rinnooy Kan, University Professor. Alexander Rinnooy Kan, together with David Laws and Martien Kuitenbrouwer took up the idea for a dedicated programme on public mediation, where research and practice are intertwined.
PMP has a small dedicated staff, and works together with a large and diverse network of practitioners, researchers, policymakers from all over the world.
PMP seeks to develop the practice and profession of public mediation in the Netherlands, by providing training to enhance capacity as well as by deepening the understanding of public disputes.
PMP combines research and practice on public mediation in an innovative way, both in order to enhance quality and expertise in training (future) public mediators; as well as keeping insights on the function of public disputes as up-to-date and thorough as possible.
