AXA grant for Bastiaan Rutjens
Bastiaan Rutjens has been awarded an AXA grant
Subject: Why do people voluntarily take risks and seek uncertainty, while they are also deeply motivated to seek structure and be able to predict and control their environments? This project will look at risk taking behaviour from a novel motivational perspective, in which people are assumed to have a drive for uncertainty and risk as well as one for control and predictability. Laboratory studies, diary studies, and a virtual reality study will test this 'balance' approach to threat compensation and risk seeking.
