Current research interests

General emotion theory remains in my interests. My main preoccupation is to further develop functional theory, that is, description at the information processing and process description level of theory, and notably, of motivational states in emotions (states of action readiness). My current thinking can be found in The Laws of Emotion, Mahwah, Erlbaum, 2007.
A second topic is that of he nature offeelings. They are more than and different from body feelings.
A third topic: the relationships between emotion and emotion regulation. Emotion regulation includes a number of different processes that are part of the process of emotion generation itself.
The subject of emotion regulation relates to that of free will. Free will has a legitimate place in the analysis of emotion and of decision making. I seek to clarify its operation.
