Fieldwork campaign in Italy, open for Bachelor and Master students in Archaeology and Ancient Studies. Deadline application 1 March 2018.

Muro Tentente is a 52 ha large fortified site located in the south-Italian region of Apulia, dating from the 7th to 1st centuries BC. VU-archaeologists have been involved in excavations at this site for over 25 years, with the aim to investigate the effects of Greek and Roman colonization in this region. In july 2018 the research will investigate the new cultic area discovered during the 2016 and 2017 campaign. Students will learn excavation, documentation and conservation techniques. Excursions will be organized every Saturday.

Accommodation and travelling

You will be housed in Mesagne. The accommodation consists of shared room and includes showers/bathroom. The VU will provide all meals, except on Saturdays and Sundays. Students are responsible for their own travel expenses.
