Two PhD positions in Historical Archaeology

Vacancies as part of the NWO-funded open competition project Diaspora and identity: an integrated archaeological and historical investigation into material life, ethnicity, and diet in the district of Vlooienburg, Amsterdam (AD 1600-1800).

The positions will reinforce global historical archaeology within the Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA). The PhDs will be supervised by Prof. James Symonds and Prof. Jerzy Gawronski. Applications are now invited from excellent candidates who wish to conduct research on an outstanding assemblage of material from a major excavation the heart of ‘Golden Age’ Amsterdam. One project focuses on household goods and personal items, the other on the use and disposal of animal products and faunal remains.
